Good morning from the 116th Milano-Sanremo presented by Crédit Agricole. The first of the Monument Classics, organised by RCS Sport in collaboration with the Municipality, the Chamber of Commerce, and the Province of Pavia, has started from Piazza della Vittoria and will finish in Sanremo after 289 km.
As always, the list of contenders for victory on Via Roma is filled with big names, starting with Tadej Pogacar and Mathieu Van der Poel, followed by Filippo Ganna, Jonathan Milan, Mads Pedersen, Thomas Pidcock, and Michael Matthews. Also on the start line are former winners John Degenkolb (2015), Julian Alaphilippe (2019), Jasper Stuyven (2021), Matej Mohoric (2022), and Jasper Philipsen (2024).
The peloton, 173 riders strong, crossed the KM0 at 10.27. Did not start dossards n. 91 Simon Clarke (Israel – Premier Tech) – 112 Cedric Beullens (Lotto).
