Michele Lissia, Mayor of Pavia: “The 2025 Milano-Sanremo, which will take place on Saturday, March 22, starting once again in Pavia, kicks off the eagerly awaited season of the great Classics and, as has become tradition, will be a must-see event for all cycling and sports enthusiasts. The history of the race is filled with legendary feats, and its roll of honor features extraordinary champions. It is a fascinating and always unpredictable race that has never failed to meet expectations. However, the race is not just a sporting event: it is also a powerful promotional tool for Pavia and its territory. It will offer Italian and international guests, and all cycling fans watching the race on television, the opportunity to discover our city’s rich historical, artistic and monumental heritage. I am sure that the 2025 Milano-Sanremo will offer another spectacular show, and it will be a fundamental ‘showcase’ for our city to highlight its treasures”.
Angela Barbara Gregorini, Councillor for Sport, Youth Policies, and Tourism of the Municipality of Pavia: “The city of Pavia, despite having enormous potential in terms of history, culture, and landscapes, is still relatively unknown as a tourist destination. Hosting major sporting events such as Milano-Sanremo is undoubtedly a way to attract visitors, promote the city and boost tourism. We firmly believe that sports and tourism are closely linked, especially today. This is why we are investing heavily in sports as a means to enhance Pavia’s visibility, and we intend to significantly increase the number of national and international sporting events hosted in the city”.
Mauro Vegni, Area Cycling Director at RCS Sport: “Milano-Sanremo is one of the most fascinating and legendary races in world cycling. It is the Classicissima di Primavera, the first Monument of the season, a challenge that has tested the greatest champions of our sport for over a century. Again this year, and for the next two editions, Pavia will host the start of the race following the great success of 2024. March 22 will be a great celebration, with the biggest stars of cycling in attendance. As in previous years, the entire race will be broadcast live from kilometer zero, with worldwide coverage”.
Giovanni Palli, President of the Province of Pavia: “Our commitment to host the start of the Milano-Sanremo for the next three years in the Province of Pavia, with the ‘Classicissima’ winding over 60 kilometers through our province, is not just the best gift we could give to cycling fans and enthusiasts in our area. It is also the culmination of years of territorial promotion efforts carried out together with the Chamber of Commerce and the municipalities of the Province of Pavia. Pavia will not just be a starting city but the beating heart of a unique cycling competition, increasingly linked to the Province of Pavia, our identity, and our passion for cycling”.
